Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Say It With Flour!. DESCRIPTION: Election-day for the post of rector at Glasgow University is traditionally a boisterous affair. This year’s proved no exception. Mr Edward Heath was only one of 4 candidates. The others were Lord Rosebery, Dr McIntyre (a Scottish Nationalist) and, ironically, Chief Luthuli, holder of the Nobel Peace Prize. As things turned out, peace was the last thing present here, and normal life around the university was brought to a virtual standstill, as students fought a 3-hour pitched battle, more often than not with the police. SHOTLIST: Key scene. Students throwing flour about. (2 shots) boy and girl students in lorry. (2 shots) students throwing flour and stopping bus (2 shots) police arrive and catch man (2 shots) crowds punching - police holding crowds back (3 shots) pan up student hoists police cap up flagpole. MS police fight with crowds. TS police arrest man. MCU police officer covered in flour.
