- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Premiere - the Longest Day. DESCRIPTION: Paris, New York, and now London, all lit up for the charity premiere of Darryl Zanuck’s film The Longest Day, massive tribute to the allied forces who landed in France on D-Day. Fans crammed Leicester Square to glimpse the host of film personalities and distinguished people. They included: Darryl Zanuck, producer of this Fox film, Irina Demick, a star in her very first film, Kenneth More, Peter Sellers, Eddie Albert, Richard Todd, Leslie Phillips, Stanley Hollis, D-Day’s only VC, Captain Maud, beach master on Juno, and the Managing Director of the Company in Britain, Percy Livingstone. It was a royal occasion, and, preceded by Earl Mountbatten, Princess Margaret arrived with Lord Snowdon. One of the most distinguished guests at the premiere was Janine Boitard, heroine of the French resistance, played in the film by Irina Demick.
