DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show the Vatican City, and the procession of dignitaries of the Catholic Church to St Peter’s, for the opening of the Ecumenical Council. More than 2,000 representatives from almost every country in the world were meeting to review the position of the Church in the space age, and to take a new look at problems of Christian unity. His Holiness Pope John XXIII was the focal point for the thousands who packed the giant square. These are once in a lifetime pictures, for this is the 1st Council of the Roman Catholic Church for over 90 years. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV procession - pan up building.
