Macdonald Hobley

Macdonald Hobley made his stage debut in Brighton in 1936. He joined up in 1940, and after demobilisation in 1946 he joined the BBC as a television announcer. Hobley appeared in many different BBC programmes, and gained wide experience of compering and interviewing. In 1956 Hobley left to join ABC television, but in October 1962 he acted as commentator for British Movietone News Nos.1740 and 1741. He also provided commentaries for British Movietone News No.1842 in September 1964, No.1877 in May 1965, and Nos.1878a and 1879 in June 1965, but was no more than an occasional relief.
