MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Blaydon Races. DESCRIPTION: A hundred years ago, George Ridley, an ex-miner, stood up at Balmbras Music Hall in Newcastle and sang a composition of his own which later became known as Blaydon Races. Now, Mr Gaitskell was there to join the song’s centenary celebrations. SHOTLIST: Key scene. Procession. Man with cigar. (3 shots) Lights. Man. (2 shots) Carnival Queen. Woman drinking. Three girls. After a five mile trek the procession approaches Blaydon. Fireworks provided a fitting final.
