Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Dag Hammarskjold. DESCRIPTION: For over eight years, Dag Hammarskjold spoke and personified the United Nations Organisation. An economist from Sweden, he took over from Secretary-General Trygve Lie at a time of crisis. He was soon to be known as Dag, and he tackled a series of critical problems and crises, China, Middle East and the Congo. He was flying to meet Mr Tshombe again in order to negotiate a cease-fire, when the plane crashed.
