MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Paintings at a Price. DESCRIPTION: The portrait of the First Duke of Wellington, painted when the Iron Duke was 43, set a record price for a Goya. It was knocked down, to an American, for a hundred and forty thousand pounds! This was one of thirty-two pictures sent by the Duke of Leeds for sale at Sotheby’s.
