Summary
To provide more water for Hong Kong’s millions, they’re building a reservoir on near-by Lantao Island. But a 600-year-old village will be submerged in the process, and 50 families were moving. When Chinese move house, they themselves make a thorough job it it, and nothing is overlooked, not even their roof-tiles! The first part of the journey was along the island road to the embarkation place. Then, a few miles by ferry, with hardly a backward glance at Lantao. Their new homes, modern block of flats, were to be in the New Territories on the mainland, opposite Hong Kong.
