MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Lord Mayor’s Show. DESCRIPTION: Thousands stood in the rain to see the show, while servicemen marched in the rain. Following the band of the Royal Marines, were the floats depicting the work of the Royal Navy. And the Wrens were in the show, enjoying a coming-of-age party. Then, arriving in his magnificent coach, London’s new Lord Mayor, Sir Bernard Waley-Cohen, who entered the Law Courts in a duly dignified procession to make his declaration of office. Unfortunately, there was a spot of bother: an anti-Jewish demonstration, it is reported, but the demonstrators were promptly and efficiently dealt with. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
