Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Budget. DESCRIPTION: The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Heathcoat Amory, announced the new budget. It was a cautious budget, not calculated to swell the average pay packet: saving is to be further encouraged, and one or two adjustments have been made to that end. Then, twopence on a packet of twenty cigarettes. It’s more agreeable to comment on the abolition of the Cinema Entertainments Duty! This puts the cinema on a level with other forms of entertainment, at last. SHOTLIST: Mr Heathcoat Amory (Chancellor of the Exchequer) working in his office. MS same. SCU same. CU same.
