- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Afloat in the Arctic. DESCRIPTION: Ice Floe Charlie is an Air Force weather station on an iceberg, and preparations to abandon it were being made. The island of ice was breaking up. Landing at night, an American aircraft arrived to help in the evacuation, the loading of scientific equipment. Ice Floe Charlie, at this time, was located over 400 miles north of Point Barrow, the most northerly point of Alaska. SHOTLIST: MS tent. GV base. Pan - man examining ice with torch. GV mess hall.
