- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Bluebird at Coniston. DESCRIPTION: Coniston Water was the choice for Bluebird’s 1958 bid to beat her own record. One innovation is the fitting of a parachute brake in the new tail-fin section. This is to allow for higher speeds without running out of lake! Rough water on the lake was the scene that greeted Donald Campbell and Leo Villa soon after their arrival. Obviously, no record-breaking for the moment. SHOTLIST: MS Bluebird down ramp. GV rough lake. MS Bluebird down ramp. CU fitting parachute brake. MS releasing same. MS Donald Campbell puts on coat. MS rough waves breaking. Same. MS Campbell & Leo Villa look at lake.
