Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Hungary’s Agony. DESCRIPTION: In the battle of Budapest, patriots fought street by street in a desperate effort to win back their liberty. When the lull came, Budapest (battered and scarred) everywhere provided evidence of the fury of the battle. Then, believing that the moment of liberation had arrived, the people of Budapest gave way to celebration. News came that Russian armour was moving out of the capital. But in spite of promises that they would leave the country, they came back. SHOTLIST: General LS of the city. Shots of windows etc. GV empty streets. Lone man sneaking towards doorway. Elevated shots of tanks moving along the street. Tank firing. Sniper behind wall firing. General shots of men running in street. Men firing from behind wall. People walking amid the wreckage. Soldiers on tanks (Hungarians) waving to crowds as they speed through streets. General views of wreckage.
