- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The General Election. DESCRIPTION: Although the election campaign had been exceptionally quiet, polling stations reported brisk business during the day. In London, large crowds gathered in Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square to see how the election was going. At Walthamstow, Mr Attlee was re-elected, while Sir Anthony Eden was returned at Leamington with an increased majority.
