Peter Brown began his career as a freelance cameraman and did some work for Data Film Productions on Mining Review. His credits are ‘ANOTHER TRY’ in Mining Review 3rd Year Number 10 of June 1950 and ‘MINER INVENTORS’ in 3rd Year Number 12 of August 1950.
In 1954, Brown was introduced to Movietone by David Samuelson [qv]. Brown’s first credit is for ‘WELCOME HOME’ in British Movietone No.1302 of May 1954. He continued to cover domestic events for Movietone until ‘NAMES IN THE NEWS - MR E. POTGEITER’ in No.1366 of August 1955. He then left for ITN shortly before they started broadcasting in September 1955.
