- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Everest Victors Here. DESCRIPTION: There was a great reception for the British Everest Expedition when they arrived at London Airport. Colonel Hunt, Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing were greeted by Sir Edwin Herbert (Himalayan Society President) and Brigadier Head (War Secretary). SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Plane taxies in. Colonel Hunt followed by Hillary & Tensing alights, greeted by Sir Edwin Herbert and Brigadier Head. Various shots of whole team with relatives and friends. Mrs Wylie with husband and children. Shots of Tensing with wife and daughters Nima Tensing and Pem-Pem. Interior Hunt speaking of his experiences. Also Hillary and lastly Tensing which is translated. All laugh. Hunt: Their success due to the experience & information gathered by their predecessors on the mountain. Q. - Who reached the top first?. A. - No team or individual climbing a mountain attaches any importance to that question because you get to the top of the mountain by team work. Hillary asked about worst moment. Says there were two. Describes one at the approach to the south summit. . Sherpa Tensing asked about his feelings. Has to be translated. He was very happy.
