Pat Mohan

Pat Mohan was a Movietone cameraman who began by supplying film from India, his first credit being for ‘AFTERMATH OF BOMBAY RIOTS’ in British Movietone News No.903A of September 1946. According to the story card, Mohan’s film of ‘NEHRU’S FRONTIER VISIT,' in No.908A of October 1946, also contains a shot in which ‘Indian cameraman Mohan walks towards camera.' Mohan filmed many events leading to Indian independence and partition, and also recorded Gandhi’s funeral for ‘FUNERAL OF INDIA’S GREATEST CITIZEN’ in No.975 of February 1948. Mohan also reported ‘EVEREST CONQUERED’ for No.1255A of June 1953, and his Indian credits continue until ‘TAJ MAHAL FACE-LIFT’ in No.1676 of July 1961. Peter Hampton [qv] recalled that Mohan moved from India to the United Kingdom, and his next credit is indeed for ‘WELL DONE, MIKE!,' an item in No.2029A of April 1968, filmed in Kilburn. From then onwards he appears to have been based in London. Mohan’s last surviving credit is for ‘WEDDING GROUPS’ in British Movietone News No.2062 of December 1968.
