MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: ‘The Coronation’ (Two Reeler 1750’) Black & White Version. DESCRIPTION: The Procession to and from the Abbey and the Coronation Ceremony. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Royal Cypher EIIR. Crowds on pavement, lining route, eating & drinking, also sleeping. Policeman on high lamp standard with large base chases girl round same. Prince Charles at window rubbing his eyes. Queen Elizabeth walks from Palace to Coach. SCU Duke in Naval uniform (Admiral of the Fleet). SCU Queen & Duke seated in coach. Coach drives from quadrangle, and through forecourt of Palace. Coach through Palace gates, panning along and round Queen Victoria Memorial. Cut-in Prince Charles & Princess Anne at window. CU Queen waves & smiles as coach passes. Elevated GV QVM & Mall. Procession passes along. Out of camera procession along Mall. Elevated into camera procession along Mall. Full screen of crowds cheering and looking through periscopes. Procession through Admiralty Arch. CU pan of coach. GV elevated Trafalgar Square. Children on Victoria Embankment cheering, coach passing, Queen waves and smiles. Elevated GV procession along Bridge Street. Approaching Westminster Abbey. Various scenes. Duke of Norfolk waits on steps for the Queen. CU ditto. Coach arrives. Queen alights. Maids of Honour. Take by robes and Queen enters The Abbey. Interior - Elevated MS procession down aisle, passing through nave, cut-ins of congregation. Elevated GV of Queen approaching Chair of Estate. Cut-in Queen Mother & Princess Margaret watching, curtsy. SCU Duke of Edinburgh in place. Queen seated in Chair of Estate. Queen walks towards Altar. Archbishop (Dr Fisher) faces part of congregation and asks Sirs, I here present unto you Queen Elizabeth, your undoubted Queen. Wherefore all you who have come this day to do your homage & service, are you willing to do the same. At the end of the Recognition congregation reply God Save the Queen. Queen curtsies. MS congregation. Archbishop addresses Queen with Oath. Queen replies I am willing. Fisher reads questions to Queen. Queen replies I solemnly promise so to do. Congregation. Queen kisses Bible. Moderator of Scotland presents Bible to Queen. CU elevated shot of Queen seated on King Edward’s Chair. Canopy put into position over chair. MS same in place. Queen standing being invested (being robed). Cut-in Queen Mother, Princess Margaret & Prince Charles. Fisher presents sword of state to Queen. Queen walks to altar with sword of state. Gives it back to the Archbishop. Queen seated is presented with Armills. Queen standing, Robe Royal places around her shoulders. Queen presented with Orb. Cut-in QM, Princess Margaret& Prince Charles. Ring placed on Queen’s finger. Lord Woolton presents glove. Then the Sceptre. Elevated MS pages walk single file along aisle with coronets. Archbishop takes Crown, lifts high & places on the Queen’s head. Shout God Save The Queen. Congregation place their coronets on their heads. CU Queen wearing crown. Queen wearing full regalia. Elevated GV interior of Abbey. Queen’s procession walks to Throne. Queen seated on Throne. Duke of Edinburgh pays homage, the Duke saying I Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, do become your liege man of life & limb and of earthly worship, and faith and truth I will bear unto you, to live and die, against all manner of folks. So Help Me God. Duke of Gloucester pays homage. Queen walks from Throne to altar. Removes her crown and kneels at the altar. CU Duke of Edinburgh kneeling at the altar. Cut-ins Maids of Honour. QM, Princess Margaret and Prince Charles. MS procession. Various shots of procession along aisle towards exit. Duke SCU in procession. Commonwealth Premiers in procession. Queen in procession. Elevated GV of the procession. Exteriors - Processional troops marching through Hyde Park Corner into East Carriage through Park. Procession in Piccadilly Circus. Elevated GV Trafalgar Square shows crowds and procession SCU Towers of Abbey, coach draws up alongside Abbey. Doors open and Queen comes out, Queen enters coach. Coach leaves several shots. Household Cavalry passing down Whitehall. SCU of coach passing. Crowds cheering in pouring rain. CU rain beating on the ground. Imperial State Coach passes through Marble Arch, turns into Oxford Street. Montage of banners, flags etc. Elevated GV of procession through Piccadilly Circus. Coach turns into Admiralty Arch. Troops round QVM, elevated, GV coach along Mall. Rounds QVM. CU Queen smiling from coach. Coach enters Palace forecourt. CU Queen & Duke in coach smiling, past camera. Queen walks into Palace still holding Orb & Sceptre. Elevated GV of the crowds breaking through police cordon. The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Princes Charles & Princess Anne walk onto balcony. Crowds. Queen and Duke waving. Prince Charles draws attention to the Queen Armills. Flypast of Meteors. Queen Mother, Princess Margaret. Prince Charles & Princess Anne leave balcony.
