MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Ascot - Opening Day. DESCRIPTION: The highlight of this year’s Ascot was the Royal drive along the course. The Queen’s horse Choir Boy (favourite) failed to win the first race. Later the Queen saw the Ascot Stakes won by Flighty Frances at 20 to 1. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. MS Golden Gates. Queen & Princess Margaret drive through crowds cheering, enter Royal enclosure. Various fashions by women; men wearing their usual top hats & morning dress. Queen & Duke of Edinburgh with Princess Margaret in paddock looking at Queen’s horse Choir Boy. Horses leave. Down to start. Start of the Ascot Stakes & finish cut-in during race of royal box. CU winner.
