- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Premier Returns for New Session. DESCRIPTION: Steaming in to dock at Southampton, the Queen Mary was bringing Mr Churchill home from his strenuous visit to America and Canada. His wife and his daughter (Mrs Soames) were there to meet him and give him a warm welcome back to Britain. Ten, Downing Street, was soon a busy scene as Ministers arrived for a Cabinet meeting before the House of Commons reassembled. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Queen Mary SCU bows cutting through water. QM in Southampton Waters. Mr Churchill walks along deck. Mrs Churchill on quay waves, also with her is Mrs Soames, & Lady Moran. Mr & Mrs Churchill walk through offices. No 10 Downing Street of the door. Crowds in Downing Street. Crowds outside Parliament. Ministers leave Downing Street, including Mr RA Butler. Mr Eden leaves. Mr Churchill leaves. Cars entering Parliament forecourt, includes Mr Churchill’s car. GV Houses of Parliament with river in foreground, gloomy day.
