Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Grain for Indian Famine Areas. DESCRIPTION: Mrs Pandit, the Indian Ambassador, was in Philadelphia to see grain being shipped to India. Meanwhile, her brother Mr Nehru, India’s Prime Minister, has been visiting Bihar to see how things are going in the famine areas. Help is on the way and grain-ships from many lands have been unloading in Calcutta. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU of grain coming out of hydraulic elevators. Several close-ups of grain in hold of ship at Philadelphia. Mrs Pandit watching same. CU grain through fingers of person. At Bihar, Pandit Nehru gets out of plane, crowds seated on grass covering head from sun. Nehru through crowds. Native labour working on building of a canal. Aerial of flooded areas. Trains packed with natives evacuating, overcrowded trains. At Patna, GV granary. At Calcutta, unloading ship of various countries, American, Russian, British, various shots of unloading. Native labour working very hard on the cargoes.
