- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Ascot - Queen Anne’s Stakes. DESCRIPTION: The Royal drive is, by long tradition, a most important feature of the meeting and Princess Elizabeth drove, with Her Majesty in the first carriage. Princess Margaret was in the second. Ascot, of course, provides one of the greatest parades of fashion of the year with accent on hats. In the first race, the Queen Anne Stakes, Ki Ming was the favourite and he set the pace for most of the way, but once again, he failed to stay, and the Begum Aga Khan’s Neron left him behind in the last furlong to win by a length. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated GV Royal procession along course. Crowds in stands, fashions. CU Golden Gates - re-painted. GV Gates open & royal procession coming through. Various shots of procession down course, Queen, Princess Elizabeth & Duke of Gloucester in first landau. Second landau: Princess Margaret, Princess Royal. CU types women’s hats, some blowing in breeze. SCU Princess Margaret amid crowds. LS start of race. Pan of race. Cut-in royal family excluding King in box. Neron takes lead & goes on to win from Ki Ming. Finish on shots of royal box.
