Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Z & G Call-Up. DESCRIPTION: The great call-up, about which so many rumours were current, doesn’t seem so drastic as was expected. Interviews with people affected by the call-up show the variety of opinion on the subject. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Desert 8th Army troops (out of camera) over sand dune - marching. Headlines on newspapers, some reading Last Out, First Back. SCU soldiers in full dress marching. Silhouette of tanks passing across the desert. CU RAF Flag flying. CU RAF type. RAF men marching past camera. Over camera - Spitfires in formation peeling off. White Ensign flying. MS destroyer through medium heavy water. MS look-out looks through telescope. CU Captain looking through field-glasses. Elevated GV water breaking over bows, taken from bridge of battleships. Elevated GV flight deck of aircraft carrier. John Collins in recording room attends to apparatus, turns & faces camera, says, I thinks it’s a bit thick etc., etc. SCU Mrs Collins at oven, cooking, turns & faces camera, says Just when we are starting to raise a family etc., etc. In street - window cleaner stopped by Hylton Craig gives his opinion. Eric Taylor leaving over car, also gives his opinion & last George Richardson, gives his Between you & I it will be a good thing, as a man with three kids etc., etc.
