MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Us Golfers Retain Ryder Cup. DESCRIPTION: At Ganton Golf Course, near Scarborough, the USA Ryder Cup Team retained the trophy, beating Great Britain 7 to 5. After the first day foursomes Britain led 3 to 1, but were unable to hold on to the lead in the second day singles. SHOTLIST: KS. GV course. MS American team holding their golf bags. SCU golf bags. Caddies wore numbers on their backs. GV crowds following games. Palmer (USA) drives off. Cut-in SCU Denis Compton watching. J Adams (GB) drives off. MS Dick Burton on the green. GV play. GV of the indicator by clubhouse. Spectators mark up their cards at the end of the foursome day. Following drives off in close-up - Demaret (USA), Arthur Lees (GB), Mangram (USA), Daly (GB). Sam Snead gets out of a bunker, ball finishes on green. Dai Ress driving & putting. Crowds at presentation. Lord Wardington says a few words - "Have you ever seen such a wonderful game of golf". Then presents cup to Ben Hogan captain of USA team. CU cup. Ben Hogan pays a tribute to the British team.
