Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: HMS Amethyst Leaves for Home. DESCRIPTION: A farewell party was held aboard the Amethyst before she sailed for home. Due to weather conditions her sailing time was altered and only a few people were on the quayside to wave goodbye as she left Hong Kong. SHOTLIST: KS. GV "Amethyst" alongside quay. Ship beflagged & decorated. Guests come aboard greeted by Commander Kerens in evening dress. MS HMS "Amethyst" flying her paying-off pennant. Pulling up gangway. Taken on board "Amethyst" as she pulls away, quay in background. Cut-in sampan Chinamen on board wave to her. Various shots of "Amethyst" leaving quay. MS bows of ship cutting through the water. Also shot of her stern flying the White Ensign. Departure in pouring rain. Officer in shirt with rain saturating them. Cut-in Aircraft Carrier "Triumph". Also USS "Dixie" crew lined decks.
