Summary
Marshal Rokossovsky watches his men cross the River Bug on the road to Lublin - under heavy enemy fire. Red Army Cavalry. Polish people welcome Russians*, together with the Polish divisions with them. Six Poles, condemned to death by the Germans, are released from their prison by Russians. The Polish flag is raised. *In the town of Helm. US NATIONAL ARCHIVE ENTRY: 10 min, sd, B&W, 35mm Russian General Rokossovoski observes Russian tanks and infantry advance towards Lublin, Poland. Russian bombers hit German strong points. Infantry crosses the Bug river in boats; amphibious tanks reach the opposite shore. Truck-drawn artillery and tanks are cheered as they enter Helm; civilians embrace the Russians. Polish patriots are released from jail. Record Group 208 Accession 2376
