MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Third Test Match. England V Australia. DESCRIPTION: England made a bad start in the second Test with Emmett nearly run out. Denis Compton had to leave the field after being hit on the head by a rising ball. After two stitches Compton returned to make a fine century. SHOTLIST: KS Back view batsman at wicket. Full screen shot of umbrellas up. SCU notice board outside ground ‘No Money Returned’ pans to queues entering ground. Cricket bags carried in, first Don Bradman’s. Aussies out to field. Cut-in CU crowd, including a policeman. Crowd shot. Cyril Washbrook and Emmett out to bat. GV Washbrook taking first ball, he runs two & Emmett runs one, the latter nearly run out. MS Emmett walking off. SCU Bill Edrich batting. SCU Denis Compton batting, pan with ball. GV play, ‘no ball’ bowled. Compton hit between eyes. Players run to his aid. Compton taken off field.
