Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Palestine - UN Convoy, Gun Runner on Fire. DESCRIPTION: A food convoy sponsored by the United Nations passed safely through to Jerusalem, thanks to Arab and Jewish co-operation. At Tel Aviv the Altalena, which was reportedly carrying munitions for Irgun Zvai Leumi, was set on fire during a battle close to UN headquarters. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS UN convoy moves along road. Trucking shot convoy passing along country road, which is littered with wrecked lorries etc. MS group of Arabs talking (silent) with UN delegates. UN convoy being checked, Arabs inspect lorries. Arabs & Jews clear road of mines, using detectors. Convoy moves along road. GV countryside. GV Altalena lying off Tel Aviv. Jewish soldiers (not in uniform) run about esplanade. Irgun commandos landing off LCI. MS ship before & after it had been hit with shell fire. Shots of it burning.
