- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Ascot. DESCRIPTION: Fine weather brought out the crowds at Ascot and the new look was in evidence amongst the fashions. The big race of the second day was the Royal Hunt Cup which was won by Master Vote for the second year. The following day the Gold Cup was the big event which saw victory for the French horse Arbar. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Ascot grandstand. GV crowds in grandstand. MS men wearing top hats. Elevated shot of Royal Family driving along course in landaus. MS King and Queen in landau. MS of Royal procession. Cut-in crowds. Several shots of mens and womens fashions - some women wearing the New Look. Pan of course, shows crowds lining the course. Types on course, cockneys, gypsies etc. MS Tote machines. MS name-board going up. MS Royal Box - King, Queen & Princess Margaret, behind them can be seen Peter Townsend and the Marquess of Blandford. MS Royal Hunt Cup - start of same. Elevated shot of race. Panning with ‘Master Vote’ finishing first. Following day - MS Royal drive. King & Queen in landau. Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in second landau. Royal party in Royal box. Various of fashions. Several shots of Royal Family walking to paddock. Types and fashions. MS two Princesses walking to paddock through crowd. GV King and Queen followed by daughters. TS ditto with Duchess of Kent also seen. Elevated horses parade in front of grandstand. Royal Box - King and Princesses have binoculars. Start of Gold Cup Race. Panning shot of horses round the back stretch. Panning round into straight, Arbar takes the lead. Panning of Arbar winning easily. Princess Elizabeth in Royal Box looking very disgusted, shrugs her shoulders.
