MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mountbattens Visit Bikaner. DESCRIPTION: The recent visit of the Governor General and Lady Mountbatten to the Maharaja of Bikaner was like a State occasion. During his stay Lord Mountbatten invested the Maharaja with the Knight Grand Commander of the Star of India. SHOTLIST: KS GV estate looking from balcony of house. At Nal Airport, Maharaja of Bikaner steps forward and shakes hands with Lord and Lady Mountbatten (civvy clothes). GV city street being watered by camel water carts. MS procession of open cars through streets, three cars last one included Lord and Lady Brabourne and Lady Pamela Mountbatten. Crowds threading their way about streets after procession had past. GV Old Fort, Bikaner. GV Lord Louis in naval uniform inspects troops, car drives round parade ground where troops are assembled. On dais Lady Mountbatten in ATS uniform, Lord Mountbatten in admiral’s uniform. Troops marchpast, also Camel Corps, finally Dungar Lancers, canter past. Cut-ins Mountbatten saluting. Fade - early morning grouse shooting by the lakes of Gajner. MS Mountbatten firing. MS Maharaja shooting in the butts. MS of their kills for the day, several hundreds of birds. Captain Narian Sungh (Maharaja’s Private Secretary) counts the kill. Interior - Durbar Hall of the Lallgarh Palace, Mountbatten invests Maharaja with Knight Grand Commander of Most Exalted Order of the Star of India. CU receiving same. SCU Maharaja investing Lady Mountbatten with decoration. MS Maharaja, Mountbattens filing down hall towards camera, each wearing their decoration, which have been placed round their necks. Several group shots of the gathering. Cut-in Lord and Lady Brabourne and Pamela. During shooting Lady Mountbatten wore slacks.
