MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Palestine Outburst Follows UN Vote. DESCRIPTION: The United Nations has reached a decision on the partition of Palestine and the Jewish and Arab states have been outlined. The following day the Jewish people celebrated on the streets of Jerusalem but on subsequent days the Arabs began rioting and looting. SHOTLIST: GV interior General Assembly of the United Nations. CU map showing partition. GV interior General Assembly. LS Saudi Arabian delegate arguing against partition. MCU Saudi (SOF). GV Assembly as Senor Aranha of Brazil calls on them to vote. MS delegates. SOF announcing vote Saudi Arabia - No, Soviet Union - Yes, United Kingdom abstains, USA - yes. MS Senor Aranha The resolution of the . Committee on Palestine was adopted by 33 votes, 13 against and 10 abstentions. GV delegates stand to applaud. SLIP PAN streets of Jerusalem the following day with Jewish people celebrating the decision (x6). TS (two days later) Arabs advancing on centre of Jerusalem at beginning of strike (x3).
