MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: French Strikes. DESCRIPTION: Bread queues have formed in Paris and public transport is chaotic as the strikes continue. Factories and power plants are being guarded against communist rioters and sabotage has been reported from many areas. SHOTLIST: KS MS police patrolling. MS & GV patrols matching through streets, patrolling outside National Assembly building during sitting of cabinet. Bread queues in streets. Crowds around buses and queuing for same. Several shots barges and tugs on the Seine, blocking the waterway. Police break down gate of factory enter same searching strikers. All the above is Paris. At Arras, various shots of the wrecked Paris/Lille express, workmen burning lines, sorting among the wreckages and clearing the same.
