- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Sir Stafford Cripps Interview. DESCRIPTION: The Chancellor of the Exchequer speaks of signs of improvement in the economy and thanks everyone for their help during the past few months. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS standing at his desk. MS & CU of Cripps at his desk, says the following: I want to tell you what an encouragement it has been to have so much help from you during the past few months. Though this is a tough time there are some cheerful signs to encourage us. We are in sight of reaching our coal production target for 1947 and we are already on the way to achieving quite a few of our export targets. I know this Christmas won’t be a luxury one and that you housewives are going to have a hard job making a Christmas show, but the spirit of Christmas and it’s family happiness will encourage us all. It’s the cheerful facing of our difficulties that makes our country strong. I give you all my Christmas thoughts and wishes and I hope that 1948 will bring us nearer to the accomplishment of our purpose.
