Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lord Mayor’s Show and Swearing In. DESCRIPTION: Sir Bracewell Smith is installed as the new Lord Mayor of London. The following day the Lord Mayor’s Show winds its way through the streets of the City. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Guildhall. Interior - Sir Charles Davis, retiring Lord Mayor rises from seat, shakes hands with new Lord Mayor Sir Bracewell Smith, and gives him his seat. Mace handed to old Lord Mayor who hands it to new Lord Mayor, who hands it back to sheriff. Slip pan - exterior - SCU Lord Mayor’s coachman. Lord Mayor assisted into coach and coach taking its place in procession. Procession passing along Cannon Street. GV Sea Cadets band playing. Elevated banners of British Legion paraded, parts of procession - athletes, boxers, cyclists, ballroom dancing, cycle polo, wrestling, Royal Marines marching, model of aircraft carrier Triumph. Model of army kitchen, servicemen relaxing, fanning themselves with hats, tilt up to Life Overseas. Various shots, general of procession. Procession passing through St Paul’s Churchyard. Beefeaters marching down Ludgate Hill. Lord Mayor’s coach arrives at Law Courts, Sir Bracewell Smith alights and enters Law Courts.
