Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Explosions Epidemic. DESCRIPTION: MARLBOROUGH - At Cadley, near Marlborough, Wiltshire an ammunition train exploded whilst it was being unloaded. The countryside around was splattered with live shells, mines and detonators. EASTBOURNE - A 550 pound bomb which had been buried 30 feet since September 1940 was electrically exploded. The houses around were evacuated and despite precautions some damage was done. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV wreckage. Cadley, near Marlborough: Various shots of wreckage, shell-cases, shells, anti-tank mines, detonators, etc. Truck loads of undamaged ammunitions. Colonel Heron with his GOC inspecting damage. Various shots of damage, wreckage etc. Several shots of evacuees, SCU & CU. Eastbourne: Road sign "Danger - unexploded bomb". Various shots of shaft where mine has rested since September 1940; looking down shaft. Soldiers stack sandbags around shaft to decrease danger to nearby houses. People leaving their houses, row of deserted houses. MS Soldier waiting to detonate bomb. LS of sandbagged shaft, explosions, earth appears to rise, also the trees then return to their original position. People return to their houses, to find damaged doors, broken windows etc.
