Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Family Tour of Scotland - Special. DESCRIPTION: The highlight of the Royal Tour of Scotland was the Victory Parade in Edinburgh. The King reviewed the Parade as it marched down Princes Street. At night the city celebrated with bonfires and fireworks. The next day the Royal party attended a Thanksgiving Service in St Giles Cathedral. The King and Queen travelled to Rosyth to inspect ships of the Home Fleet in the Firth of Forth. Whilst her parents were at Rosyth Princess Elizabeth attended a Girl Guide Rally at St Andrew’s Hall, Glasgow. SHOTLIST: KS Elevated shot of march-past along Princes Street, Edinburgh - Victory Parade. Royal Navy marching, cut-in of crowds, Army and ATS marching. Royal Family on saluting dais. RAF with fixed bayonets, followed by WAAF’s, Scottish civilians also in parade, workers, etc. Land Army girls. Civil Defence. At night firework display, very good, also King and Queen in fireworks, cut-in of crowds. Bonfire burning. Crowds outside St Giles Cathedral, Royal Family arrive by car, King walks through ranks of naval guard of honour, enters church, tilt down from top of cathedral to entrance. Royal Family come out. King salutes as "God Save the King" is played. At Rosyth, Forth Bridge in background, shots of HMS "Rodney" - battleship. Various shots of her. King boards, escorted by Admiral Sir Henry Moore (C-in-C Home Fleet), they walk to bows of ship and look at plaque on deck, this being where King George V stood on his last visit to this ship.
