Commentary - A letter and some drawings to you from Jim from desert island barracks. The days job is done and we’re off duty now, oh I’m bored stiff. My bunk seems made of nails, the boots of the chap over the way get larger and larger each time I catch sight of them, my god they’re studded with eyes that own a perfectly horrible look. I shut my eyes and the snore of the bloke snoozing overhead became elephanti and have I really got the willys or has my kit changed into that nasty piece of work. PS Geoff’s just finished his book and it’s my turn now. Oh boy is this something and its another world, I feel cool and comfortable, the sights and sounds of home seen to come alive. It’s a fact that even Bill’s snores seen just a couple of birds lovemaking. Aint life wonderful, one book makes all the difference. Take your spare books to the nearest Post Office where they’re sent to the forces everywhere.
