Synopsis
Iain Douglas-Hamilton’s Oxford PhD project was to study the ecology of the elephant population over a five-year period and advise on its co-existence with farming developments. Access to lush montane grazing is limited by farm settlements. Techniques and results are presented together with the living conditions of Douglas-Hamilton, his wife and two children.
