- Summary
- Russian horse and motor transport moves through villages set on fire by the retreating Germans. At Taganrog bodies of hundreds of civilians are found in a ditch after mass execution by the Germans. Outside Rylsk, Ukrainian girls are freed from barbed wire enclosures. They were to be sent to Germany. Bodies of young men who were killed for refusing to go to work in Germany, are found down a mine shaft. Captured German film shows the retreat from Novorossisl. Soldier fixes explosive to railway line and the explosion wrecks part of the rail link across the Taman Peninsula. Another German division in the Kuban, load their equipment onto transporters to be shipped away. Keeping them on the move are Russian bombers of the Soviet Air Force, while the Russian advance is harassed by German Stukas. German evacuation takes place from the mainland across narrow strip of water to the Crimea. Back with the Russians again and their artillery in action near the sea of Azof and the liberation of another town. The first Moscow-to-Kharkov train is run after two years and crowds gather to see it off. In the town of Gloukov the Russian liberators are greeted by the townspeople. The victory guns of Moscow fill the night sky as each new success is announced.
