ScienceHack is a search engine for science videos. The site does not itself host videos but indexes them from sources such as YouTube and Metacafe. All videos included in the database have been approved by a panel of scientists for accuracy and quality. At the moment there are relatively few videos listed under each topic heading, but a section on the home page lists latest additions to the database.

The website accompanying the BBC Radio 4 series In Our Time, in which Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the history of ideas, has been redesigned, and the Archive section now makes every episode broadcast since the series began in 1998 available to listen to again via RealPlayer. Programmes are searchable by title, genre (culture, history, philosophy, religion, science) and by era, from prehistoric to 20th century. Recent programmes are available as podcasts, and an e-mail newsletter gives Melvyn Bragg’s personal insight into the latest programme.

The University of Rhode Island’s Rhode Island Agricultural Experiment Station site includes a ‘virtual garden’ which enables users to select one of eight areas of the garden, then at each node offers a 360 degree view (using QuickTime 4), with the option to pan up and down, and to find out more about individual plants by clicking on them - this leads to text and some voice descriptions. Simple, elegant and perfectly realised.
