    ScienceHack is a search engine for science videos. The site does not itself host videos but indexes them from sources such as YouTube and Metacafe. All videos included in the database have been approved by a panel of scientists for accuracy and quality. At the moment there are relatively few videos listed under each topic heading, but a section on the home page lists latest additions to the database.

    Discovery Access is a stock footage archive, launched in 2011, giving worldwide access to more than 100,000 hours of non-fiction footage from Discovery’s 28 entertainment networks. From the website producers, directors and anyone in need of footage can search, preview, license and download clips of animals and nature, architecture, engineering, CGI, culture, medicine, mind, body, science, space, technology, travel and exploration, innovation, time lapse, etc. New content is added to the website on a daily basis.

    The website accompanying the BBC Radio 4 series In Our Time, in which Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the history of ideas, has been redesigned, and the Archive section now makes every episode broadcast since the series began in 1998 available to listen to again via RealPlayer. Programmes are searchable by title, genre (culture, history, philosophy, religion, science) and by era, from prehistoric to 20th century. Recent programmes are available as podcasts, and an e-mail newsletter gives Melvyn Bragg’s personal insight into the latest programme.

    The Natural History Museum’s Nature Online is a vibrant site, primarily aimed at schools and the general public. It has three live web-cams showing the behaviour of colonies of ants, flesh eating beetles and a hive of bees; attractive pages giving information and video presentations on topics relating to biodiversity, environmental change, British natural history, evolution, life, earth and space; Nature Live Online - a daily programme bringing together scientists and visitors to explore, discover and discuss the natural world and our place within it..     The University of Rhode Island’s Rhode Island Agricultural Experiment Station site includes a ‘virtual garden’ which enables users to select one of eight areas of the garden, then at each node offers a 360 degree view (using QuickTime 4), with the option to pan up and down, and to find out more about individual plants by clicking on them - this leads to text and some voice descriptions. Simple, elegant and perfectly realised.

    The RGO is a database of over 650 film, television, radio and related documentation collections and artefacts in the United Kingdom and Ireland, designed for use by researchers. These physical artefacts combine to represent all the key practices within screen history including the magic lantern, film, television and the digital present. They include magic lanterns and slides, optical toys, film production equipment, television and video equipment, cinema equipment and fittings, artwork for animation, sets and costumes, sound technology, toys and games and documentation such as photographs, scripts, sheet music and personal papers. The database covers national and regional archives as well stockshot libraries and collections held by local authorities, museums, institutions of further and higher education, industrial companies and private individuals.
    Each record has live e-mail and weblinks, and the data is regularly updated by the BUFVC’s Information Service.

    This American site includes a streamed video 42 minutes in length (Real or Windows Media) entitled "Careers for Geoscientists", all about how to become a geoscientist. There is also a long article on the subject (listed as a "brochure"), and a section devoted to Job Ads. The site also includes an interactive Geological time scale, games and an imagebank.
