To Live with Herds
- Synopsis
- About a dry-season homestead among the Jie, the semi-nomadic people in North-eastern Uganda. At the time the film was made there was a famine, and their view of the reasons for this and possible solutions are shown. Concentrates on the problems faced in a single homestead, in selling cattle at low prices to buy grain and pay taxes. Contrasts the attitudes of the old non-literate woman and those of her educated son, who is involved in distributing government famine relief. Note: The conversations of the people are translated in subtitles.
