Synopsis
The Tuvanians live deep inside the Soviet Union at the centre of Asia. With ‘glasnost’, the new openness, a film crew was allowed to film the nomadic yak herders of Mongun-Taiga, a rugged district on the border with Mongolia. Looks at the methods used by herders to protect their children from destructive spirits. Shamanic beliefs continue despite state disapproval. *RAI
