OCEAN SOUND THIS WEEK NO. 4 Programme 4 of a weekly news and sports review called Ocean Sound This Week, broadcast by independent radio station Ocean Sound on 7 November 1986. Presented by GUY HORNSBY. TRACK 1- STEVE WALSH a participant in Disco Aid’s record Give, Give, Give, is interviewed by GUY HORNSBY and explains what it’s all about after which record is played. TRACK 2- JEAN PAUL HANSFORD has a rough passage from Portsmouth to Ryde on one of Sealink’s catamarans and, on arrival at Ryde Pier Head sees connecting train pull out before all passengers have disembarked. Interviews disgruntled passengers and then speaks to NIGEL PRYKE, Sealink’s Isle of Wight Passenger Services Manager, who answers complaints about the catamaran. TRACK 3- Farmer GORDON NEEGLE? is interviewed by MARK FLANAGAN about his breeding flock of Sussex ewes and rams. ART GARFUNKEL sings Heart in New York. TRACK 4- Review of this week’s news and sport. News - CHRIS RIDER reporting. ALISON HOLT reports on National Union of Seamen dispute at Portsmouth over Sealink redundancy payments following closure of Channel Islands route. ALEC HODDER, Transport Union spokesman, is interviewed about Southdown bus drivers dispute over timetable changes in Portsmouth. PETER TIPPETTS, spokesman for National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers, is interviewed regarding Government’s pay offer to teachers. Guy Fawkes night celebrations went off fairly quietly apart from a roof fire at Nursling. Sport - MARK BISHOP reporting. Football - Saints beat Manchester United 4-1 at the Dell in the replay in the Littlewoods Cup. Saints Manager, CHRIS NICHOLL, is interviewed. Pompey’s KEVIN DILLON is interviewed about his goal against Millwall in the Four Members Cup. Boxing - HEROL GRAHAM is interviewed on his win against Mark Kaylor in the European Middleweight fight at Wembley. TRACK 5- NEIL CHESTON, crewman of the yacht DRUM is interviewed by CHRIS CARNEGY on his experience sailing under skipper Simon Le Bon, well known pop star, in the Whitbread Round-the-World Race. NICK BERRY sings Every Loser Wins, this week’s Network No 1. SIR DAVID PRICE, MP for Eastleigh, talks about his backing for increased Rate Support Grant from Government to Hampshire County Council.
