Bonkers [15/02/2007]

Synopsis
Television comedy drama series created by Sally Wainwright which, to quote the press release,`exposes the lives of a group of colourful, flawed and desperate human beings, who are either obsessed with sex or just going quietly mad’. In this episode Helen (Tarbuck) is reading from I v (`O Charmian, Where think’st thou he is now? Stands he, or sits he?) from Antony and Cleopatra with her class. Feeling that the pupils are not reading well she decides to read the lines herself. Cuts to a dream sequence in which Helen is dressed as Cleopatra. She recites the speech but gets Antony’s name wrong, replacing it with ‘Felix’, the man with whom she is obsessed. After the bell rings for the end of class the headmaster (Dutton) enters and notes the text the class is working on. He comments that the play examines love between older people, Helen replies, in coarser vein, that there is many a good tune played on an old fiddle.
