Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service

Have you ever missed recording a television programme you wanted to use in teaching? You can use this BUFVC service to obtain a copy from its extensive recordings library.

The BUFVC records and retains more than 65,000 hours of UK broadcast television and radio each year. Copies of these programmes can be ordered online and supplied to members with an Educational Recording Agency (ERA) licence.

Service
We offer an off-air television recording back-up service on behalf for educational institutions that hold an ERA licence. BUFVC membership allows a member institution to request videocassettes or burned CD/DVD copies of missed programmes broadcast since June 1998. The subscription taken up by an institution determines the level of service that can be requested. The BUFVC is the only third party organisation in mainland UK holding a letter of agreement with the ERA permitting the post-transmission supply of copies of television programmes under Section 35 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
