Summary

Highlight of our picture is the 400 metres men’s relay in which Americans, disqualified for faulty change-over, have decision reversed after careful scrutiny of film of race. Sensational running of Dutch woman champion, Mrs Blankers-Koen, epic marathon, won by Argentinian Cabrera, in which Britain’s representative Tom Richards secures second place and Gailly of Belgium a gallant third; our fine victory in the rowing at Henley; disappointment at Reg Harris’s defeat by Italian Ghella in 1000 metres cycle race.
