- Summary
- COI synopsis: This programme looks at the work of the unsung heroes, who, through their skill, have already made flying the most popular form of transport around the world - a tribute to their achievement in air safety. When a plane crash-lands, its highly inflammable fuel is thrown into the air in a fine vapour cloud. Just one spark can turn it into a blazing shroud. ICI, in conjunction with RAE Bedford, have bound fuel droplets into long, fine chains; it’s rather like the additive that turns ordinary paint into non-drip. Fuel still burns - but there’s no fire ball.
