Summary
COI synopsis: Water. It rolls from sea to sky, sky to land, land to sea. We’re walking columns of the stuff; part of the same timeless cycle. This programme examines the cycle and the problems it presents for man. Dinorwic is an electricity scheme - involving two lakes and a mountain which was hollowed out and fitted up with 6 turbines. At times of peak demand, water from the lake on the mountain top cascades through tunnels in the rock, turns the turbines and pours into the bottom lake. When electricity demand is low, the turbines are reversed. They pump water back into the upper lake, ready for the next surge in demand.
