Summary
COI synopsis: Even common conditions like appendicitis are difficult to diagnose - the symptoms may indicate a number of possibilities. A doctor must rely on his experience to analyse these symptoms and decide whether to operate or not. Now, a British hospital has compiled a computer program which draws on the experience of a wide range of cases of acute abdominal pain, so that any doctor can use this data as a second opinion.
